This chili recipe from my mother is one of my favorites. Full of flavor, this chili is perfect for a casual family meal. If you enjoy bold, spicy flavors, spice it up!

Ingredients
2 ½ lb. ground beef
2 large yellow onions, diced
2 large green peppers, diced
8 cups red kidney beans (canned)
2 cans #2 ½ crushed tomatoes (approximately 7 cups)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 teaspoons salt
2-3 dash paprika
3 whole bay leaves
2-3 dash cayenne pepper
3-4 tablespoons chili powder
6 whole cloves
Directions
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, onions and peppers and drain thoroughly
Combine all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for 1 to 2 hours, until desired consistency
Recipe Note
Top with sliced scallions, grated cheddar or a dollop of sour cream. This chili freezes very well - for up to 3 months. Be sure to cool completely before freezing.
